Mathias von Goettinger emigrated in approximately 1860, as near as I can tell, from Krems, Austria, which is just west of Vienna. He and his brother John settled in Algoma, Door County, Wisconsin. Before he was killed in an accident, Mathias married Mary MARIK, who was born in Prov. Pilsen, Bohemia. Mathias and Mary had one daughter, Mary Katherine, who married Wilhelm Rudolf Amstein and are my grandparents. Hills back to 1830 in Osburg, Germany. Peter Hill emigrated from Germany to Sweden/Norway to Chicago, Illinois around 1900. Peter Hill and Elizabeth Annel married in Osburg. Elizabeth was born in the neighboring city of Trier, Germany.
