Description: Seeking info on Margaret WUNDERLE (1815?-1871), wife of Xavier REINFRIED (1812-1869). Margaret's 1871 obit says she "was a native of Germany, and came west at an early age, reaching St. Louis in 1830. In 1832 she removed to the then small and insignificant village of Dubuque, and has remained here ever since." Not quite true -- the 26 July 1835 baptismal record for her child Margaret is in St. Patrick Church records, Strip District, Pittsburgh, PA (sponsors: Georg WUNDERLE & Margaret WUNDERLE). The baptismal records for most of her other children are in St. Mary Church records, Dubuque, Iowa. According to the 1836 Iowa Territorial Census, Xavier REINFRIED and his family were living in Dubuque [I do not know where/when she and Xavier REINFRIED were married]. In the 1880 Federal Census, several of their children list their mother, Margaret [WUNDERLE], as being born in Baden. I do not know Margaret WUNDERLE's parents' names, nor if she had any siblings. However, there is an April death record for Elizabeth WONDERLIN (widow, age 85, born in Germany) in the Dubuque County 1850 Federal Census.
