Origin: Magaha is the name of the tiny townsland in Cappagh, Co Waterford, Ireland where I grew up.
It consists of about three green and grassy farms, a wood and a small area of forestry. I know them all like the back of my hand.
As far as I am aware, the spelling "Mogeha" and "Magaha" have been interchangeable throughout the centuries. Magaha was the old spelling according to my Grandmother, and it changed somehow, to Mogeha over time.
My family believe that Magaha, means "Mag Gaoite", or the windy plane in Irish.
I dont know if this bears any significance to the orogin of your surname, but at least it adds a little mystery and a little richness.
