The Balheimer Family
The first members of the Balheimer family came from Germany or Austria to America in the late 1700's and settled in New York. 3 possible members. Starting with John, who appears in both the New York and Louisanna census of 1860, George, who appears in the Civil War Service Records as enlisting in company K of the 149th Illinois Infantry of the Union Army on February 2, 1865,and residing in Smithton IL and Magdaelina/Magdalena who was married in Allen county, Indiana on May 7, 1861. |

Settling in Northampton, PA, with his wife Catharina Dorothea they had six sons. Conradh served in the American Revolution War. The third generation migrated west to Ohio (Bevelhymer) and to Indiana (Bevelheimer). |

The Jarcho-Yarcha-Turoff-Turow-Bermant families from Slutsk
The origins of this family start in Ancient Judea and stretch to Medieval Spain and Southern France and the town of Lunel where the Ha-Yarchi families lived until late 1300's- early 1400's. The family then moved North and East into the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in what became the province of Minsk Gubernia in present day Belarus. The tows of Baranovitch, Slutsk ,Turov and Kletsk and the surrounding towns were where they lived during the 1700's and 1800's. The earliest named ancestor was Zimel Yarcha(1750-1800). His descendents spread to other areas of Russia such as Pinsk, Minsk, Yekatrinoslav and Yousovka before leaving for Israel,England,Belgium,Argentina and most to the USA. Their families came from France to Quebec and Acadia in the 1600's and 1700's. my mother's family, surname Kvernvik. They came from Norway in 1906. Her mother came from Norway around that time also, my grandmother's surname was Mathisen. My husband's family is also from Maine. The Babcock's settled in Bangor. His paternal great grandmother was a decendent of Abraham Somes who settled in Somesville on Mt. Desert Island, Maine, in the late 1700's. My husband's mother's family, the Ernst's came from Brooklyn, New York, and Switzerland. Munzesheimer from MS, TX and OK
Two brothers, Frederick Munzesheimer and Simon Munzesheimer, were born in Germany between 1825 and 1848. They both were in Wilkinson County, MS at varying times between 1859 and 1871. Frederick eventually settled in Dallas, TX. Simon was in Mineola, TX. On January 11, 1902, in Mineola, Aaron Munzesheimer (one of Frederick's sons), shot and killed his uncle Simon. There are at least two other Munzesheimers who may be brothers to or somehow related to Frederick and Simon. Max Munzesheimer was a merchant in Ardmore, OK. Herman Munzesheimer fought in the Civil War from Wilkinson County, MS and later moved to NY. |
