Our family currently resides in the beautiful state of Montana, where both maternal and paternal family members came and homesteaded. Some members of the MARCUS THOM family headed to Ritzville, WA while HANS THOM and wife HENRIETTA (Yetta)von EILTS stayed in Montana. These family members came from Northern Germany to America in the latter 1880's. Originally lighting foot around Sybley, Ill. Two members of this nuclear family remained in Germany- an Aubel Thom Lohse and Christian Thom. Hans son, George Remmers Thom married Lillian Nelson ofWALFORD and AUGUSTA NELSON. The maternal side of the family seems to have come mostly from Witchita/Hays Kansas and previous to that Iowa and possibly Pennsylvania. These were the CHARLES HENRY SMITH ne:1873 and LUE MINNIE CRITES ne:1876...married 1897. Also the GEORGE ANDREW WISE ne:1880 and Anna Emmaline BINDER...married. Anna came from John(Johann)George Binder Jr. and Catherine Caroline BALD. Johann father Johann Sr. originated in Schoenaich Wurttenberg Germany, mother, Catherine Barber or Barbara? born in Bavaria Germany. John Binder Jr. emigrated from Kingdom of Nurembuerg aboard sailing vessel John of Prackle His family lived in Iowa and Ohio.
