JOANNE'S FAMILY: Engbrigt E. Eggen (b.1850, d. 1913) immigrated to Minnesota in 1880 from Trondheim Norway and settled in Crow Wing County, Minnesota. Along with Engbrigt were his wife, Olena (Berglund) (b.1857, d. 1939), and their son, Engval (b. 7/4/1880, d. ??). The children born after they arrived in Minnesota are: Jennie (b. 1882, d. 1960) Christ B. (b.2/17/1886. d. 1942) Theresa C. (b. 12/29/1886, d. 1966) Inga (b.7/1889, d. 1986) John (b.1891, d. 1891) Julia O. (b. 1893, d. 1895) Carl J. (b 1/4/1894, d. 2/19/1988) Julia B. (b. 1896, d. 1898) Julius B. The Bazler Family
My Great Great Great Grandfather is John Austin Bazler (b. 1795-d. 1891) was born in Wurtemberg, Germany. He came to the United States in the early 1800's with two brothers and possibly his father. He settled in Chillicothe, Ohio around 1818. John settled in Ohio and one brother settled in the New York area. The other brother settled in the Indiana area or traveled back to Germany. John married Elizabeth Legg (Lake) on November 18, 1821. Elizabeth was born in Virgina (possibly London County) but her family was of English decent. Together, John and Elizabeth had nine children. They were Margaret (1825-1905), Thomas (1831-1915), George (1835-????), Andrew (1836-????), Augustus (1840-1907), Elizabeth, (1843-1902), John (1845-????), Louisa (????-????), and William (????-????). The family made bricks and later sold machinery and buggy parts for a living. John A. Bazler is buried in Greelawn Cemetary located in Chillicothe, Ohio. Augustus Bazler is my Great Great Grandfather. Although he was born in Chillicothe he later moved to Columbus, Ohio. He enlisted into the Union Army in October 1862 to fight in the Civil War. He was a Private in the Company G, Regiment 113 Ohio Infantry. His discharge date was July 25, 1865. Shortly after he was discharged from the war he married Ottelia Palm on August 10, 1885. In the late 1800's he worked as a machinist with a company in Columbus, Ohio. Together Augustus and Ottelia had ten children. They were Bessie (1883-1959), Colonel (1885-1906), Blondena (1886-1909), Wallace (1888-1955), Verona (1891-1938), Mae (1898-1998), Howard (????-????), Earl (????-????), Ernest (????-????), and Edith (????-????). My Great Grandfather is Wallace Bazler. Wallace came to Scioto County, located in Southern Ohio, as a small child. He was raised in the vicinity of Third & Market Streets in Portsmouth, Ohio which is situated near the Ohio River. He enlisted in the National Army on July 25, 1918. He served in the 31st Company, 8th Battalion 158 Depot Brigade. He received a Honorable discharge as a private on December 16, 1918. Also in 1918, he married Pearl Ann Spence. Together they had seven childern. They were Jack (1923-1996), Donald (1925-1964), James (????-????), Mildred (????-????), Ruth (????-????), Alma (????-????), and Mary (????-????). The Roland Curtin Family of Centre County Pennsylvania
Roland Curtin was born 1764 in County Clare, Ireland. He arrived in Philadelphia, Pa in 1793. He first settled in Philipsburg, Pa. and in 1799 he moved to Bellefonte, where he became a shop-keeper and later, sheriff of Centre County. In 1800 Roland married Margery Gregg. She was the daughter of John Gregg and Elizabeth. They had 7 children. Margery died in 1813 in Bellefonte, and in 1814 Roland married Margery?s first cousin, Jane Gregg. Jane was the daughter of Andrew Gregg and Martha Potter. They had 7 children, their first son was Andrew Gregg Curtin, known as The great war-governor of Pennsylvania, In 1810, Curtin and landowner Moses Boggs founded the Eagle Iron Works. The next year, Curtin purchased nearly 10,000 acres of land, all of which was subsequently cleared, most of it for the hardwood necessary to make the charcoal that fueled the iron furnaces. The Curtin family continued to operate the Eagle Iron Works until an unfortunate blaze in 1921 marked its end, one of the last functioning charcoal cold blast furnace in the United States.
