The Eddings family were blood relatives of King James II of Scotland and were hunted down by the British Throne as they wanted to kill off any possible heirs to the throne...some of them escaped by coming to America. I believe the first Eddings in America to be William and Racheal Eddings who arrived near Frogmore,South Carolina in the late 1600s with a land grant given to them by the colony.
