Biography of Joseph A. Geddes, 1902
Mr. Geddes is a native of Canal Dover, Tuscarawas county, Ohio, born November 2, 1850, his parents being Joseph and Catherine (Moore) Geddes. In 1854 the family removed to Williams county, in the subscription and public schools of which he received a meager education. |

Also descended from Captain Nathaniel Basse, who was commissioned to bring colonists over from England in the early 1600's. The Basses married into the Nansemond Indian people of Virginia. The Partains, originally from Arkansas, are believed to have Cherokee ancestry. The Hallonquists are originally from Sweden. They emigrated to London and then to South Carolina.
