Origin: Name probably originately in Ireland AND Scotland at about the same time. It is Irish AND Scots, AND Scotch-Irish which does NOT mean half Irish, half Scots. Scotch-Irish is an AMerican term that means those who went from Scotland to northern Ireland and then to America. Most were Presbyterians. Most Irish McC's were/are Catholic.

Origin of Eary, Meaning of Eary
Origin: my grandmother's relatives are from Paterson, New Jersey. Her name was Mabel Neary. She was born around 1898. She married Charles Cavanaugh in 1919 in New York City. She had a son (my father) named Francis Xavier Cavanaugh in 1921. She separated from her husband in 1935 and moved (I think) back to Paterson, New Jersey. She died around 1941 or 1942 in New Jersey or New York. We would like to find her grave. I don't know if she had any siblings, or the names of her parents. Any info?
