Description: I am trying to find the name of Newton S. Singleton's mom. His father was Willis Singleton, and I have reason to believe his mother may have been a sister to Andrew Coon Ferguson, but cannot prove it as yet. Newton was born in TN, probably Knox County. His family then moved to Illinois and settled first in Jefferson County, and later in Washington County. Newton had brothers named Benjamin, Lewis, Willis D., James and Richard. His sisters were Tabitha and Mary J. (both of whom appear to have married into the Trout family. If anyone has any information or even photos, I would love to share what I have with you in return. Adkins is listed under the Tippah Co. death notices, died June 1848, wife and three children, Allen Adkins petitioner. John's wife, Mary, was born in KY and died 1849 in Tippah. Two of John's children are living with Allen & family in 1850 & 1860.
Believe Allen to be the father of Eliza Earle Adkins b. 1815 SC married Hezekiah Gray Spencer Feb. 2, 1835 in Jefferson Co., AL.
BLM records at the GLOrecords site I found Hezekiah G. Spencer and Joseph B. Earle buying land together. Feb 1841 in Kemper County, MS. Would like to know if there is a connection between the Earle's and Adkins.
There is a Henry Adkins listed in 1850 census b. 1813 SC. Would like to know if there is a relationship between Henry, John W. & Allen.
Thomas W. Adkins married Mary Wade in 1828 in Jefferson Co., AL. Would like to know if there is a connection between him & others that moved to Tippah Co.
1830 - Thomas M. Adkins is also listed on Jefferson Co., AL along with Allen.
