My father, James Claude Arnold, (son of Mary Catherine MollyDial from Morganfield, Kentucky and Stephen Anderson Teban Arnold,) was born August 27, 1899 and on December 23, 1922 married Lela Ann Richards, daughter of Charles Marion Richards and Sarilda Seymour Adline Bumpus Richards. J. Claude, my father, died Oct. 21, 1968 and Lela, my mother, died May 22, 1974. and are buried at the Bethel Cemetery, Jefferson County, Illinois, south of Mt. Vernon on State Route 37. Teban(my grandfather)was born Feb. 15, 1861, the son of Seth Arnold(my greatgrand father)who was born July 16, 1828. Seth lived on the old homestead purchased from the government by his father Stephen Arnold(my great-greatgrand father) who came from Tennessee among the first settlers and settled on what is now Dodds Township, on a farm one half mile south of Pleasant View Church. Teban died Nov. 5, 1930. Molly was born in Union County, Ky. on Sept. 22, 1864, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Dial, and died April 18, 1958. Teban and Molly were charter members of the Pleasant View Baptist Church and both are buried in the Arnold Cemetery on the Arnold farm. Descendants of Francis Arnold |
