Origin of Dau, Meaning of Dau
Origin: DAUGHETY appears to be a variant of the English DOUGHTY/DAUGHTY meaning loyal, strong and trustworthy, and the phonetically identical DOTY is the more common variant. Frances Daughty was born in England and was a Puritan minister in NY in the 1600's. His descendants were in VA and the Carolinas in the 1700's.
