I believe this Baker line to have originated in Holland as BACKER and anglicized to BAKER in late 17th century New Utrecht before settling in the Province of East Jersey. MOORE of Rockingham County NH. PAYZANT of Nova Scotia and MA. Allied with Moore is FELLOWS of MA & NH. Janna L Babcock - InterneTree my father's family, the Martins were from Lewiston, Maine. His mother's maiden name was Dulac. Her mother's maiden name was Arnoldy. Their families came from France to Quebec and Acadia in the 1600's and 1700's. my mother's family, surname Kvernvik. They came from Norway in 1906. Her mother came from Norway around that time also, my grandmother's surname was Mathisen. My husband's family is also from Maine. The Babcock's settled in Bangor. His paternal great grandmother was a decendent of Abraham Somes who settled in Somesville on Mt. Desert Island, Maine, in the late 1700's. My husband's mother's family, the Ernst's came from Brooklyn, New York, and Switzerland. Cyr, Kafton, Good & Limbach Descendants
My Cyr line goes as follows: Pierre Sire(1644-1679), Guillaume Cyr(1679/80-c.1744), Louis-Joseph Cyr(1718-1753/54), Joseph Cyr(1740-1801), Joseph Cyr(1768-?), David Cyr(1790/1800-1870?), Zephyren/Zephirin Cyr (1832-1901), Frank Cyr(1857-1938), Minnie Cyr(1893-1981). Michael Kafton was the son of George Kafton & Catharine Schwartz and born in either Russia or possibly Germany. Michael and his wife came to the US from Russia around 1892 and settled first of all in South Dakota. They later moved to North Dakota, then Marion, Kansas and finally in Lincoln, Nebraska, where Michael Kafton is buried. Michael's wife was Louise or Louisa and may have remarried after Michael's death in 1912, as I cannot find her burial in Nebraska. Michael & Louise's children include: Lizzie, Lottie, Louise Lucille(my grandmother), Michael, Albert, Lydia, Emma, Alexander, Freda?, Annette? |
