PETER PELHAM, who emigrated from England to Boston, Mass. in 1727, was my 6th Great-Grandfather. Peter was married three times, first to Martha Guy (this is where our line descends from) after her death, Margaret Beath Lowrey became his second wife in 1734, after her death Peter married the widow Mary Singleton Copley in 1748 becoming the step-father of John Singleton Copley, the early American Artist. Peter was indeed an artist in his own right and most likely was a strong influence on his step-son as well as his other children. |
