Joshua Auty 1716 Yorkshire
We start in the year 1716 when the first Joshua Auty Married Martha at Hemsworth near Wakefield Yorkshire in July 1716. They shortly moved to Hague Moor, a small settlement just outside of Woodkirk, in West Ardsley. They had a son, which they also called Joshua (2) He was born in 1718 in Hague Moor. West Ardsley Joshua (1) his father was miner/collier of Hague Moor. . He married a Hannah about 1743. Second Generation Joshua (2) had three children. Joshua Jr. (as quoted in the register) baptized September 9, 1744 of Hague Moor, West Ardsley. Hannah daughter of Joshua Auty (2) of Hague Moor. Joshua was a Miner/farmer. Hannah was baptized May 13, 1746. Hannah was spelt Autey married Joel Haigh a Clothier, on April 24, 1766. Hannah could not write, but signed with an ?X? for her mark. Will son of Joshua (2) a miner of Hague Moor was baptized on November 18, 1750. . Third Generation Joshua (3) Auty was baptized on September 9, 1744 in Woodkirk, West Ardsley, Yorkshire, England. He married Martha Broadley July 28, 1768 at Mirfield Parish Church in Lee Green. Martha Broadley was the daughter of William Broadley. She was baptized March 18, 1740/41 in Lee Green. The Auty Family moved to Lee Green in Mirfield, Yorkshire. This was about 1768. Here there are two Pubs, which they may have used after a hard day?s work down in the coalmines or on the farm. Joshua was a regular visitor having a hearty drink with his friends. The pubs are Saville Arms and the Shoulder of Mutton. Joshua had a son called William baptized January 1,1770. Joshua was blacksmith, of Lee Green, Mirfield. Ref.D1/1 Mirfield Parish Church Mirfield Yorkshire England. Note: - Joshua has always been written as a collier/miner or farmer. I have accepted blacksmith as he may have had horses and took care of others as well. John son of Joshua (3) Auty of Lee Green, Mirfield, Yorkshire. He was baptized on August 4, 1776. John married Ann Spring in Woodkirk (Mormon's Records). Jane the daughter of Joshua and Martha Auty of Lee Green born November 3, 1778 . Joseph son of Joshua (3) Born July 9,1781, Lee Green, Mirifield, Yorkshire. He married a Sylvia in Weld Chapel in Southgate, Edmonton, Middlesex. Joseph had died April 25, 1853, in Southgate, Edmonton, Middlesex. Robert was born April 17, 1783, son of Joshua (3) Auty of Lee Green, Mirfield, Yorkshire. Robert married Elizabeth Ellis at Dewsbury on July 26, 1819. Mark son of Joshua (3) of Lee Green Mirfield, born August 7, 1775. Mark married Elizabeth Spencer September 5, 1819 at Snaith; Yorkshire (according to the Mormons Records) Snaith is a little a village on the A1041. From Wakefield, that would be M62 get off at Junction 34 for Selby, turn right A645 toA1041. This was a very long way from where Mark lived in Mirfield, Yorkshire, England. Elizabeth daughter of Joshua (3) was born on September 9, 1787, Lee Green Mirfield , Yorkshire Fourth Generation Joshua (1) 1716 Joshua (2) 1718 Joshua (3) 1744 Joseph (4) 1781 Joseph (4) son of Joshua moved from Huddersfield, Yorkshire to the hamlet north of London called Southgate around 1800, to start a new life. Joseph after awhile met Sylvia James, who after some courting married her in 1804, in the Weld Chapel, Southgate. Joseph started his own business of making chairs and selling beer. Joseph and Sylvia had ten children. Eliza daughter of Joseph and Sylvia was born October 1st. 1805. Mark (5) son of Joseph (4) and Silvia was born on March 1, 1807. Martha Auty daughter of Joseph (4) was born on September 10, 1808 at the Chapel of Weld, Southgate. Saraha was born February 24,1810 at the Chapel of Weld, Southgate. Jane Mary was born on June 10, 1812. Jane moved to New Zealand. |
