The Adriance Family was founded in the colony of the New Netherlands by Adrian Reyerse Adriance, who came to Flatbush, Long Island from Holland in 1646. He married Annetje Schenck on July 29, 1659. He was an elder of the church and baptismal records show that they had 13 children before he died on November 24, 1710. His son Elbert later married Catalynie Remsen Vander Beeck on April 18, 1698.
