(2/20/1879-11/5/1950) Owaneco,IL -Clara Ellen (12/28/1880-6/22/1959) On the CHESTERMAN side: MAY -Nancy Ann This is a hard one. She was a girl 10-12 yrs. old during Revolutionary War and possibly a decendant of a Mayflower family. On Dec. 31, 1799 she married Samuel Cowgill and had 4 boys. Samuel died in 1801(or 7) and Nancy married John Worley Chesterman Feb. 9, 1809. They had 7 children, Rachel,Abraham,Jemima,Elijah, Rebecca, and Jonathan. NANCY ANN MAY. CHESTERMAN -John Worley DAPPERT -Anna Margaret She came from Germany a few years before she married Elijah Smith Chesterman on Nov. 1, 1840 in Canal Dover, Ohio. They had 9 children, Jemima, John Henry, Charles Worley, Anna, James May, Marrard,Caroline, and Oliver K. STAHL -Louisa M. (4/3/1866-10/8/1958) I am very interested in her. She married Oliver K. Chesterman on Jan. 10, 1894 in Spencer, Indiana. I think she might have come from Germany. She and Oliver had 6 children, 4 girls and 2 boys, Maude Viola, Grace Elaine, John Dewey, Omar Kenneth, Anna Marie, and Edith May who was a Downs Syndrome. |

BEATY I am researching the BEATY family, originally from Ireland. From family folklore Francis BEATY was born in Tullamore, Ireland in 1757 . Francis and his wife Catherine gave birth to three sons, John, Francis and Henry, probably in Stoke Damerel, Devon, while he served in the Royal Navy. In 1820 Francis and 1821 Henry, joined the Honourable East India Company Army as Cadets in Bengal, India. The elder son of Francis, named Francis Henry BEATY, and his wife Caroline Ophelia (n?e Sheels), had fifteen children all born in India. Five of the sons served in the Indian Police. The Beaty family finally left India in 1948. The cities in India and Pakistan that feature in the family history are Lahore, Jhansie, Karachi, Landour, Mussoorie, Quetta, Rawlpindi and Simla. LITTLE/LYTTLE I am also researching the LITTLE/LYTTLE family from Northern Ireland. In 1839 Andrew LITTLE was born in the Parish of Montiaghs, Lurgan, County Armagh, Northern Ireland, to Thomas and Mary (n?e Wilson) LITTLE. In 1858 he joined the 27th Inniskilling Regiment and sailed to India. He remained in India and retired from the army in 1894. He died in Dehra Dun, India in 1926. He had five children Mary Anne, Thomas Wilson, William John (my grandfather) Edward and Andrew. The surname spelling changed to LYTTLE with the children. The cities in India/Pakistan that feature in the family history are Dehra Dun, Jhansie, Karachi,Lahore, Meerut, North West Province,Peshawar and Simla. He married Letitia Orr, who had also emigrated from County Tyrone, and they moved to Columbiana Co., Ohio in 1815. Three of his sons, Joseph, John and William moved to Wells Co., Indiana. Sons James, Abraham and Issac and his daughters remained in the Columbiana Co, Ohio and Beaver Co., Pa area. James T. Taylor emigrated from Ireland about 1821 to Ohio and subsequently to Parke Co., Indiana. |
