Earliest antecedent (to date) is one William Beam who appears in the 1830 Federal Census for Oxford Twp, Warren County, NJ. Two other BEAMs, Garett and John also appear in the same Twp/County in 1830 and may be brothers. William, whose approximate birthdate is 1804 married Nancy Kelly in Warren County 13 January, 1825. William, Nancy and children also appear in the 1840 & 1850 Census for Hope Twp, Warren County, NJ. Among the children born of this union were: John J. Beam (b. 1832,)William Henry Beam (b. 1841,) Sarah Jane Beam (b. 18xx,) Garett S. Beam (b. c1846,) Matilda V. Beam (b. c1849,) Elizabeth Beam (b. 18xx,) and (perhaps) others, all of whom were born in Hope Twp, Warren Co, NJ. John J. Beam, my G-Grandfather, married Margaret Ann Smith in Warren County in 1856 - He and his brother William Henry Beam were both Civil War vets, and as a result of moving to Wyoming Co, PA c. 1858 enlisted in the 2nd. PA Heavy Artillery (Company M) 112th. PA Volunteers at Pittston PA (Luzerne Co)in 1862. Both were discharged in 1865. John J. and Margaret Ann had several children inc: Alneda (b. 1858,) Emily (b. 1859,) 3 others (between 1861 and 1866) - Eldest children born either NJ or PA, following 3 in PA. After leaving Margaret, John J. returned home to Centermoreland PA. c 1874 and he and Margaret had another child, Fannie (b. 1875.) John J. left again (for Michigan)where he re-married and had 3 children with his second wife Alice Orr. John and Margaret's youngest daughter (Fannie) married Edward John - John J. John W. Beam who lived in Lestershire (now Johnson City), Broome County, New York, and died in 1915. Will Baer was born about 1854, in 1908 he was married to a woman named Mary Wilson and had two sons, Cecil and Howard Henry who was my wife's father. Howard was born in Curwensville, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania in July of 1917, Cecil was born in 1908. George H. Clark was born in September 1849, possibly in the Rock Valley area of New York. He married a woman named Jennie L., and they had 4 chidren. Two of the 4 were twins, Cornelius, and Cornelia who were born on november 29, 1899 in Rock Valley. Stephen Patchen, who was born on July 1, 1867. He was married to Anna Owens, of Aubern, New York and lived at one time in Syracuse, New York. Fred Beaman married Avis Robinson whose father I beleive was James T. but can find no connections, in 1901 in Benton Co. Ar. Their son James A. Beaman married a Fern Mann whose family came from Ohio in 1870 to S.W. Mo. and into Ar. My Beaman ancestors seem to have come from Massachusetts in the 18th century. They moved through Iowa to Oregon. My Freeman Ancestors are traced back to Douglas County Missouri and seem to be linked to the Aaron Posey Freeman family. It is likely that my great-great grandmother was the daughter of either H.P Freeman (thought to be Humphrey P. Freeman) or Samuel Posey Freeman. |
