Banahan Genealogy Page Directory  Total Records: 1  The Banahan Family of Chicago My great grandfather, James Banahan, first appears in the 1860 Census of Baltimore, Md. He was 21 years old at that time and residing with a John and Bridgette Banahan, 33 and 28 years old, respectively. He indicated his national origin was Ireland. He appears again in the 1880 Census of Illinois. He was married at that time to Catherine Winn and they had three minor children; Patrick, 6 years old, James (my grandfather) 3 years old, and Mary Ann, 1 year old. There were three other children born to them after the census; Thomas, Elizabeth and Katherine. My great-grandfather died in 1887, his wife, Katherine not long after in 1890. Their daughter Katherine (Kate) died at 22 years of age in 1903. Patrick never married and died childless in 1922. Mary Ann married a man named Brustman and Elizabeth went on to marry a man named Scully. Thomas also married and had two children named Catherine and Jane.
