Origin of Bal, Meaning of Bal
Origin: The word "balogh" or "balog" is an ancient hungarian word which means "left handed." Being left handed was considered strange, and in the time of sword fights it was also feared and unexpected. The word is used only as surname in today's hungarian language. It is used both with and without "h" at the end with no difference in the pronounciation.
