Bailey, Henry, Cook, and Lovejoy Ancestors to 1500's
Our oldest probable ancestor was William Bayley. Joel Bailey was our first ancestor in America, who married Ann Short after she arrived on the Sailing ship Welcome with Wm. Penn in 1687. They were Quakers excaping their persecution in England. Our line starts with Daniel Baily, a highly respected Quaker farmer (1810 era)in Clearfield County Pennsylvania. His Grandson, My Grandfather, Wm. Harrison Bailey, trekked with his mother (Mary Henry-Neff-Bailey) to Michigan with a covered wagon and homesteaded there in 1880. His father Harrison Bailey went to Iowa, attended and graduated from Cornell College, and became a Methodist minister, preaching in Ida grove, IA from 1871-76. He married Jeanette Spencer (2nd wife) in 1861, and they had 5 children. He left the ministry and became a mining broker in Boulder, CO until his death in 1896. One of his children was Anna Bailey b 1866 and was last known to be a school teacher in Bethroud, CO. Great Grandmother Mary Henry's Father was James David Henry b 1885 in Grampion, PA and married Catherine Baker in 1826. Thier GF was John from Dublin,Ireland. My Grandfather William Harrison Bailey married Emma Mary Cook. The Svendsen / Burringtons of Green County Wisconsin
My grandfather, Peder Johannes (John Peter) Svendsen immigrated in 1914 on the SS United States (not the famous liner but the old steamer). He was born in a house called Sejehuset in a small village called Slaglille in Alsted, Sor? amt in 1892. His mother's family had lived in the house for generations. I have traced his father's family (Jacob Conrad Svendsen) back to Holsteinborg on the southern coast of Sealand not too far from Slaglille still in Sor? amt. Jacob Conrad was born in F?rslev in 1824 to Jacob Peter Svendsen and Sophie Charlotte Husum. Sophie's parents were Andreas Husum and Birgette M?ller of Holsteinborg. InterneTree: Carol A Andrejak DE
