He was born circa 1634 in Inverness, SCOT. He was among the Scots captured at the Battle of Worcester in 1651. He like many others were brought to the Americas and became indentured servants. He arrived in Boston 24 Feburay 1652 where he and six others were indentured to Nicholas Lissen of Exeter, NH. Two years later he married Nicholas' daughter, Hannah. They had 3 children. She died in 1659 while birthing their daughter, Hannah. He married Margaret ? in 1660. They had 8 children, the 6th James from whom I am descended. Therein is a long journey that ends with Dearborn Bean of Bridgewater, Grafton, NH coming to Iowa. His son Owen Milton Bean I, my grt grandfather was born in Iron Hill, Jackson County, IA. He married Ella May Maudsley and so my connection with my gr,gr gr grandfather Sutcliffe Maudsley. My mother was Betty Bean Andresen.
