feudal Dorset and its yeoman farmers (the Balstons), to maritime Fifeshire at the time of King James 111 (the Woods, who number among their ilk the celebrated sea Admiral Sir Andrew Wood of Largo and the renowned Victorian explorer Captain John Wood), to the Tower of London in the early eighteenth century and its tipple loving Master Armourer John Grimer, and to rural Gloucestershire where my earliest traced Trinder ancestor is found farming in Bishops Cleeve, Nr. Cirencester. Later travels in time brought me to the Pinwills of Ermington, Devonshire, including The Reverend Edmund Pinwill and his seven highly talented daughters who set up their own carving business. Their ancesters included the Rashleighs of Menabilly, Cornwall including Jonathan Rashleigh of Civil War fame, made famous by Daphne Du Maurier's novel The King's General. Descendants of LEWIS DENNY
Lewis Denny was of French parentage, having been born in 1740 in French Territory, near present day Cahokia, Illinois. When he was 18 years of age, he along with his brother Martin and a French Officer, went to fight in the French and Indian war. At Fort Niagara, he and his brother were taken prisoner by the Mohawk Indians. He married a Mohawk woman and settled at Canaseraga. Lewis son John, kept a road tavern and built the first frame house in the village of Canaseraga, which in 1823 became the town of Sullivan. John married Dorothea Dachstaeder (later becoming Doxtator) who was the daughter of Captain Honyere Tewahangarahken, alias Doxtader. John and Dolly's son, Abraham married Catherine Nellis, daughter of John Nellis. Abraham led the first band of Seneca Indians to Kansas and Missouri, where, according to his daughter, Mrs Jacob Doxtator (Catharine),so many sickened and died there. He came to Wisconsin and talked a few Oneidas, Stockbridge and Brothertown Indians to remove to Indian territory. On this trip he died on the Little Osage River. All of his children had removed to Wisconsin, including my great, great grandmother, Mary Ann Denny. Her son, Syrenius married a Brothertown woman, Harriet Elizabeth. Her grandfather was WilliamCaroline Kristine Andler |

Sullivan Burgess Family Tree
This page holds my family tree, which will be updated frequently. If you see someone you know, let me know. If you have information on someone, please share it with me. I have a lot of information on the Laughlin, Davy , Glendenning and Thomson lines, but the Sullivan, Burgess, Farrer, Harman, Trivett and Purchase lines need much more work. Please note that the Davy, Thomson and Glendenning pages are very large and takes time to load.
I am most interested in finding information on James Sullivan who immigrated to Canada in 1912 and left behind their families. I know it is too much to find my grandfather side of the family. (do you know how many James Sullivan's there are?) If you have any information on a James Sullivan born in England on Sept 25 in the 1870's, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!! I am offering a $100.00 US reward for the first person that can find him. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the back up I have on James as to date. Enjoy your travel into my past, and maybe you will find some of yours. I am starting to think we are all related :} Please Sign My Guest Book and let me know if you found something or have more to add. I keep all updates and contacts on file and one day someone your looking for may just email me. |
