On the 21 March 1830, MARY Appleyard baptised her illeg. daug. ANN in Selby Abbey, Yorkshire. In 1848 Ann had an illeg. son in Leeds, my G. Grandfather, John Stead Appleyard. Ann had another son, Appleyard Davey, by a William Davey, but not able to trace a Marriage. MAJOR: Living in Plymouth, Devon in c.1813. By the 1850's living in Lincoln (Stonemasons). In the 1920's moved to Bradford, Yorkshire, so that they could get empoyment in the Mills. |
The Akester Family - ' Ropes, Bricks & Iron
AKESTER family live mainly south of the River Humber in North Lincolnshire, England. They are descended initially from THOMAS ACASTER b.1750 in the vacinity of Beverley, Yorks.\r\n\r\nSTEPHEN AKESTER crossed the River Humber in the 1860's from his home town Hessle to work in the Rope making factory in Barton upon Humber. His descendents worked in and around the town of Barton in the Brickmaking works before moving to Scunthorpe at the turn of the century to work in the newly formed Iron and steel industry in the town.
