Stephen Stanley
Description: I am an American amateur genealogist working on my 16th-17th century
STANLEY ancestral line. I need some help with the Suffolk line of Vicar
Leonard Staneley/Staveley, known to have married Margery Brown(e),
widow of Henry Brown, about 1581 in Aldringham-cum-Thorpe. She,
according to her will of 1621 had at least two children by Mr. Brown,
Reginald and Margery. She bore two children to Vicar Leonard Stanley in
Aldringham, John, b. 1582 and Charity, b. 1583 (who died in 1608).
Vicar Leonard was known to have become the vicar of Pettistree and
Ufford, Suffolk around 1590 and remained there until his death in 1620.
He produced there a beautifully inscribed parish register book,
(http://www.suffolkcc.gov.uk/sr?o/fc104_d1_1.html) which
contains notes of his won ancestry, apparently of the line of STAVELEY
in Ripon Park, Yorkshire.

Margery Staneley's will of 1621 (Suffolk Probate Records), does not
mention her son John Staneley, but does mention her grandson, Matthew
Stanley, who is to receive some inheritance "when 17, if he live." I
believe that this may be the Matthew Stanley who came to America in the
1630's or 1640's. possibly on the ship ARBELLA from Leyden, Holland in
1634. (This was the John Winthrop flagship in 1630.)

Mick Fitzsimons
Description: John Andrews was married to Henrietta Crowther. In 1835 they were living in Canada West (now Lower Ontario) when their son James was born. James later immigrated to Victoria, Australia. The family must have been of some means for James to afford the passage overseas, as Canada West then was a very poor area. There must be Canadian descendants out there somewhere.

Surnames: Andrews, Crowther.
