InterneTree: Diane M Babb John Zych/Zach, born about 1890 in Poland. He emigrated to the United States where he married Josephine Kochelek in Omaha, Nebraska (about 1907) Josephine was the daughter of John Kochelek who was born Dec 20, 1848 in Polska/Austria. John Kochelek married Mary Komienga (Kuminga) born in June 1854 in Krakow, Galacia, Poland. They were married Nov 15, 1875 in Krakow, Poland. My Grandfather, John Zych/Zach died in Chicago, Illinois in 1938. John Andersen. He married Catherine Zalud. Johns' ancestors came from a town or village 20km from Copenhagen, Denmark. I was told he was one of 4 nrothers who emigrated. They changed their names to see who would find the family fortune. The original name was Jurgesen. Two brothers settled in Chicago, where they were blacksmiths. One went out West to possibly Arizona, where he worked on or owned a ranch. The fourth brother went to Australia Catherine Zalud. She had two sisters, Mary and Josephine. When my Grandfather John Andersen passed away she married a Mr. Likey of Chicago. |

BRADY and KNIGHT families from Lowberry, Ballinlough, County Roscommon, Ireland. Mary Brady Knight (1819-1888) and Martin Knight (1815-1891) had 9 children: Martin, Anne, John, Ellen, Thomas, Roger, Mary, Patrick and Michael. She emigrated to the U.S. in 1880 with 3 of her grown children, leaving behind her husband, Martin, and one child. She settled in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh, PA, where several of her other children, who emigrated in1878, lived. Little is known of Michael and the descendents of John, who died of tuberculosis in 1883 in Pittsburgh (Railroad St., Lawrenceville). John left a wife, Margaret FLATLEY, and 5 children: Kate, Rose, Lyda, Thomas and John. Father John C. Brady, brother of Mary, emigrated in 1843 and founded a church in Hollidaysburg, PA. Olson(originally Olsson in Sweden) family, two of whom reportedly left Goteborg, Sweden, August 1895. They entered the US through Ellis Island. Their original surname was Olsson, but was changed to Olson during immigration. The elder sister's name was Alma Olivia. The younger sister's, my grandmother, name was Anna Ellida. Anna was 12, and Alma was 22 at the time of immigration. They were from the Island of Gotland and the parish of V?te. The two sisters were sponsored by elder siblings, Hilda Henrietta, Ingeborg Amanda and Olof. They settled in the Chicago area. Anna's first job was at Western Electric. Hilda was supposed to be an opera singer around the Chicago area, perhaps in Pullman. Ole was supposed to have farmed in Alabama. Ole wife's name was Betsy, who hated the warmer climates and stayed around Chicago, with her sisters-in-law. Betsy was also a mid-wife. Anna's date of birth was Oct. 11, 1882, her date of death was Sept.7, 1971. Alma Olson (my great-aunt) married a John Olson, and they had two sons, John and Henry. Anna Olson married Nels Christian Sorensen August 9, 1909 in Chicago. Anna Olson Sorensen and Nels Christian Sorensen had five children, Marion, Violet, Earl, Pearl and Estelle.
