Origin: The VanArsdol surname is a spelling variation of VanHaesdale. Simon Janz VanHaesdale was the first immigrant to the United States to use this surname. Simon was born in what is now East Flanders Belgium and died in Kings County NY. The name is Dutch, and even though the Dutch did not use surnames in their native lands, when they came to the U.S., the British insisted the immigrants have a surname; so many of them adopted the name of the village in their home land as a surname, hence, 'Van' meaning 'from'.

Origin: "Hanami" is the surname of an agricultural family from the Aizu region of Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. Many immigrated to the U.S. with the head of the household, Shin'ichi, in the early 20th century and farmed land in Idaho. While a significant number of his family eventually moved to California--Shin'ichi himself returned to Japan--some remained in Idaho and other descendants have moved to places such as North Carolina and Washington DC.
In Chinese characters, the surname is written ?? and is often rendered "flower viewing", but in a Japanese context it means specifically, "cherry blossom viewing".
