The Ameln-Schlangen Family Home Page
Johann Gerhard Ameln emigrated to St. Louis, Mo. from Germany in the 1880's. He married Mary Schlangen in St. Louis. Her father, Bernard Schlangen was German born and emigrated to St. Louis before 1860. There are at least 4 distinct Schlangen family lines in St. Louis in the second half of the 19th century. They all lived in the same neighborhoods and there is crossing of family lines in baptism sponsors and marriage witnesses. The Schlangens are said to be cousins but I cannot find the link. Also the Amelns and Kersens were cousins and all three family names are interlinked forward from 1880. Before their emigration.

Bean Manchester,CA
I know we started in Scotland before the 1700's. My great, great grandfather was Peter Bean and was born in VA.IN 1831. hE married Lenora Backer, not her maiden name as she was previously married and had two children, Alice & Martin. Peter and Lenora also had 4 children of their own. Edward, Leonard, Grace & Ralph, (he is my great grandfather). They moved to California in the 1860's. They settled at Long Ridge, Trinity Co. CA. I believe Leonard & Ralph stayed in that area. Leonard married Alma Rice and had Harold & Darrell. Ralph married Nora Sheilds and had Everett (my grandfather) & Grace. Leonard was killed in an auto accident in his 60's and Ralph I believe was killed in a logging accident when he was in his 40's. Everett married Mary Libera fron Eureka, CA. and had two children Ralph, (my father) & Diann. The family moved to Manchester, CA. in the 30's for a short time. When my grandparents went back to Eureka my dad stayed in Manchester and finnished school because he had met and fallen in love with my mother Esther Scaramella. Ralph and Esther had 5 children Mark, Jennifer, Lori Leonard & Stuart.

feudal Dorset and its yeoman farmers (the Balstons), to maritime Fifeshire at the time of King James 111 (the Woods, who number among their ilk the celebrated sea Admiral Sir Andrew Wood of Largo and the renowned Victorian explorer Captain John Wood), to the Tower of London in the early eighteenth century and its tipple loving Master Armourer John Grimer, and to rural Gloucestershire where my earliest traced Trinder ancestor is found farming in Bishops Cleeve, Nr. Cirencester. Later travels in time brought me to the Pinwills of Ermington, Devonshire, including The Reverend Edmund Pinwill and his seven highly talented daughters who set up their own carving business. Their ancesters included the Rashleighs of Menabilly, Cornwall including Jonathan Rashleigh of Civil War fame, made famous by Daphne Du Maurier's novel The King's General. The Jarcho-Yarcha-Turoff-Turow-Bermant families from Slutsk
The origins of this family start in Ancient Judea and stretch to Medieval Spain and Southern France and the town of Lunel where the Ha-Yarchi families lived until late 1300's- early 1400's. The family then moved North and East into the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in what became the province of Minsk Gubernia in present day Belarus. The tows of Baranovitch, Slutsk ,Turov and Kletsk and the surrounding towns were where they lived during the 1700's and 1800's. The earliest named ancestor was Zimel Yarcha(1750-1800). His descendents spread to other areas of Russia such as Pinsk, Minsk, Yekatrinoslav and Yousovka before leaving for Israel,England,Belgium,Argentina and most to the USA. Leighton Family in New England
THOMAS LEIGHTON first settled in Dover, NH in 1633 and was one of the first planters of Northam (Dover). There is some conflict about whether Thomas came from England or Scotland. Some say that he was the son of a prominent official in Scotland, while others say that he probably came to New England on the ship JAMES in 1633 with Capt. Thomas Wiggin. 1814 in Mills Settlement, New Brunswick, Canada to John Byers or Boyers, who was probably born in about 1791, probably in England. My branch of the family came to New England, settling in Maine and New Hampshire and eventually to upstate New York. They are the descendants of George E. Byers and Clarenda Maude Byers who settled in Groveton, New Hampshire. Clarenda eventually went to live with her son, Gilbert, in Fort Edwards, New York where she died as the result of a fall from a second story window. The BEST family lived in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. The father's name was JOHN P. BEST and the mother's name was LOUISA HOLLINS. The MOSHER family lived in the areas of Johnstown and Caroga in Fulton County, New York in 1850, and probably all of their lives. I believe that JOHN P. MOSHER was a direct descendant of HUGH MOSHER of the Mosher clan that had settled in Massachusetts and New York State.
