Donald Gamble
Description: I am related to the Gambles who in Williamsburg County in South Carolina around the early to mid 1700's. My ancestors later moved to Lancaster County, SC and around the Waxhaws near present-day Union County, NC. The earliest ancestor I have found was a William Gamble, who most likely served with Francis Marion during the Revolutionary War. My great, great, great grandfather is buried in Lancaster, SC at the old Presbyterian Church which is now on the National Historic Register. His name was Stephen Smiley Johnson Gamble (1827-1877).
I would like to trace my ancestry to before the time of William Gamble. My folks most likely came from Ireland through the port of Philadelphia, through Virtginia to South Carolina.
