They are descended initially from THOMAS ACASTER b.1750 in the vacinity of Beverley, Yorks.\r\n\r\nSTEPHEN AKESTER crossed the River Humber in the 1860's from his home town Hessle to work in the Rope making factory in Barton upon Humber. His descendents worked in and around the town of Barton in the Brickmaking works before moving to Scunthorpe at the turn of the century to work in the newly formed Iron and steel industry in the town.
