Origin: Mahon is a surname common in Ireland. The name is derived from the Gaelic word for 'bear', Brian Boru's older brother was name Mahon. The name therefore is often associated with members of the Cenneadi clan. The most prominant Mahon family was located in Stokestown, and their family estate is now owned by the Irish Government. IT is now the famine museum. The fate of Captain Dennis Mahon, assasinated by his tenants, is a sad part of Irish History. The Mahons owned the largest Anglo Irish Merchant Bank, and were the owners and operators of mines in County Wicklow.

Origin: Mohoneyor rather o'mahoney is an Irish name origianting in Cork Southern Ireland and the Bear penninsula, where the family come from the early kings of Ireland, I am not sure how to spell it but Bryan Barru. The name is also spelt Mahony, or mahoney, and they were major farming families in Ireland even during the potato famine.

Origin: AHOLT: toponymicum. Consisting of two parts: the 'A' refers to the little river Aa (from 'aqua', water) streaming trough the town of Bocholt. Second part, the 'HOLT' refers to Holtz, hout, wood. The name Aholt was created when in or before the 13. century the manor with this name was built near the woods and a branche of the Aa, called the Heggenaa, outside the townwalls of Bocholt in the Bocholter Feldmark.
