my Great Grandfather Alex Welcome. He was b. March 17, 1894 in Finland. During the Civil war between Finland and Russia, Alex came to America. We are unsure if he came with a brother or followed his brother to America. They/He came to America in Abt. 1907-1908 they ported in New Yorks Ellis Island. When they arrived, Alex's Name was change to Welcome. Alex and his brother traveled to Canada where they worked as Loggers. When they had a falling out, Alex came back into America and Settled in Aiken County, Minnesota. Alex's Father's first name was Francis and his Mother's Given name was Josephine Alajoki. |

Richard & Abigail had 10 or 11 children, the youngest son Edward married Margaret (?); they had 3 children: Amon, Dorcas and Elisha. Elisha married Elizabeth Russell. Elisha move Tunkhannock Pa in 1816. They had several children, one was Russell who married Eunis Weiss. They had four boys, one was my grandfather Rev. Hartley Wilson Armstrong. He was married twice. He had four boys by his first wife and four by his second. One of the latter sons was my father Russell (aka Vivian) Dake Armstrong. My father and mother Kathrine Jane Mahle had two children, myself (Robert D.) and a sister Wynonia Jane. I am married to Joan M. VanScoyk. WE have six children and 15 grandchildren. |
