my mother'sfamily. Her maiden name was Driscoll and came from the Pocatello, Idaho area. Some of her ancestors were named Hickman and moved to Utah with the Mormon westward movement. Other names would incude the Thayer family fron Massachusetts and possibly the Adams family of the same state. The Driscolls were from Ireland and for a time went by the original O'Driscoll version of the name. |

The Beatys and Littles of Ireland and India
BEATY I am researching the BEATY family, originally from Ireland. From family folklore Francis BEATY was born in Tullamore, Ireland in 1757 . Francis and his wife Catherine gave birth to three sons, John, Francis and Henry, probably in Stoke Damerel, Devon, while he served in the Royal Navy. In 1820 Francis and 1821 Henry, joined the Honourable East India Company Army as Cadets in Bengal, India. The elder son of Francis, named Francis Henry BEATY, and his wife Caroline Ophelia (n?e Sheels), had fifteen children all born in India. Five of the sons served in the Indian Police. The Beaty family finally left India in 1948. The cities in India and Pakistan that feature in the family history are Lahore, Jhansie, Karachi, Landour, Mussoorie, Quetta, Rawlpindi and Simla. LITTLE/LYTTLE I am also researching the LITTLE/LYTTLE family from Northern Ireland. In 1839 Andrew LITTLE was born in the Parish of Montiaghs, Lurgan, County Armagh, Northern Ireland, to Thomas and Mary (n?e Wilson) LITTLE. In 1858 he joined the 27th Inniskilling Regiment and sailed to India. He remained in India and retired from the army in 1894. He died in Dehra Dun, India in 1926. He had five children Mary Anne, Thomas Wilson, William John (my grandfather) Edward and Andrew. The surname spelling changed to LYTTLE with the children. The cities in India/Pakistan that feature in the family history are Dehra Dun, Jhansie, Karachi,Lahore, Meerut, North West Province,Peshawar and Simla. Ralph John Henry McAdams is descended from the McAdams line, beginning with James McAdams and Rebecca Hill from Orange Co. N.C. Ralph J. McAdams was born September 25, 1911 in Roosevelt, Kiowa Co.,Oklahoma and died August 23,1975 in Amarillo, Potter Co., Texas. He served in France and Germany in WWII and was a Fireman in Amarillo until his retirement in 1960. He first married Sylvia Marie Edney, Jan. 26, 1938 and had two daughters, Thelma McAdams and Bobbie Jo McAdams, then,second, married Tula Marie Holland. His parents were, Charles Albert McAdams and Virginia Evangeline (Bledsoe)McAdams. Charles was born in Caddo Mills,Hunt Co.,Tx.where he met and married Virginia, who originated from Fairview,Scott Co.,Va.on Dec.11, 1905. Charles McAdams parents were James Monroe McAdams and Cynthia Minerva (Kimes)McAdams who moved to Hunt Co. Tx. from Linclon Co. Tn. in 1876. James McAdams parents were William and Jane McAdams from Lincoln and Marshall Co.s Tn. William McAdams parents were Hugh McAdams and Maria (Bagley)McAdams from Marshall Co. Tn. Daniel and family were found on the 1850 Dallas Co., TX census. Joseph R. BROOKE was born ca 1794 in MD, married Sarah PERRY(daughter of Walter PERRY and Elizabeth PHILLIPS) in GA and migrated to MS by 1840. Joseph died ca 1856 in Lauderdale Co., MS and is buried in LOCUST GROVE CEMETERY in GA. Isaac YATES/YEATES was born ca 1860 in AR, married Becky ADAMS ca 1880 and remained in AR unitl after 1910 when he moved to MS. Becky was not counted on the 1910 Prairie Co., AR census leaving me to assume she had died by this time. Issac died 1928 in Vicksburg, Warren Co., MS. |
