THE JOSS FAMILY
Our grandparents, James and Mary Joss, left Scotland to live in Canada in the early 1900's. They settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As the children married, some of them stayed in Winnipeg and some immigrated to the United States of America. William L. Ayers from in England in 1880-1937 married Odelia Labott or(Labatt or Labatte). she was born in Canada in 1852-1930 . We know they had several children one being Percy Sylvester Ayers born in Grand Traverse , Michigan 1887-1938 he was married to Alm Alicia VanCamp born in Kalkaska, Michigan in 1888-1911 they had 3 children Clifford James my father , Hazel Irene, and Marion his second wife was Mamie Wicker forn in Kentucky 1893-1928 she had one child Pauline Chapin , togather they had more children, Opal, Clifford Harold, Aletha June, Agnes, Violet and a set of twins. |

They had four children: Janet(Jessie), James, Jean, and Magnus. Thomas and Jean (Loutitt(sp)) Kent, married December 4, 1832 in Westray, Orkney, Scotland. They had at least eight children: James, John, George, Thomas, Johana, Robert, Andrew, and William, and perhaps a daughter Jemima. Thomas and Ann (Banks) Baikie, married February 11, 1830 in Stromness. They had eight children: Ann, Thomas, Eliza, John, Peter, Edward, Georgeina, and William. George and Christiana (Johnston) Irvine, believed born and married in Stromness. They had nine children: Marjory, Molly & Christiana(twins), Robert, Ann, George (died young), Margaret, George, and Charles. Peter Rank, born August 14, 1823 in Bayern, Germany, perhaps son of Simon Rank. May have had siblings John, Heinrich and Eva Barbara. All four emigrated to Saginaw, Michigan or the vicinity. Peter married 1868, in Saginaw, Caroline Elisabeth Wilhelmine Trarop, born September 26, 1844 in Gollnow, Pommern, Prussia. Her parents were Johann Friedrich Trarop and Catherina Dorothea Rasten. From Alabama they migrated to Davidson and Hardin Co., TN via the Natchez Trace and from TN they came to AR where my direct line stops. |
