my great grandfather, John/Jonas Heinrich Thomsen came to this country in the early 1900's from Germany. His date of birth is January 24, 1857 in Witbeckfield, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany and he died December 10, 1937 in Winside, NE. He is buried at Valley View Cemetery in rural, Persia, IA. He was married to Margarethe Hansen in 1879 in Germany. She died in Germany in 1901 and is buried there. They had 8 children: Christine, Alvina, Hans, Margaretha, Mathilde, Johanna, Peter and Emma. They all entered this country through Ellis Island and their destination was Fritz Thomsen (brother of John)in Persia, IA. family of Nico Bohm. He was born in Germany July 20, 1882 and was killed in a farming accident by Winside, Nebraska March 29, 1946. He had one sister, Lucie Bohm Nissen that lived in Minnesota. Edward was born around 1864 and immigrated to this country from England around 1890. His wife was Maggie Reese, born around 1874 in Philadelphia. Maggie died around 1905 in Philadelphia. Maggie had one sister Elsie. Frederick Buchler married Marian Gilder on May 26th, 1924. Frederick was born in Pennsylvania on Dec 11th, 1887. He had two older brothers, Augustus and William. All of them were born in Pennsylvania, but either one or both of their parents were born in Germany. Frederick's birth certificate lists his parents as Joseph and Mrs. Biehler, but his Baptismal Certificate lists his parents as Frederick Bichler and Elizabeth Fillers, and still another record (his Funeral book) lists his Parents as Augusta and Elizabeth Buchler. The WILSON family came from Statesboro, Georgia, where they had been since after the American Revolution. Our TURNER family came originally from North Carolina, but moved to Kansas City, Kansas, before making their way to Georgia. The DOWNING ancestors were of mixed Cherokee Indian and English descent. They were from Southern Georgia, and married into the Henderson clan of Pearson, Georgia. 1. Colonel Richard Lee, the Emigrant (1610-1664)- Patriarch of the Lees of Virginia. 2. Rev. James Knox Polk (1795-1849)- Cousin; Eleventh President of the United States, Governor of Tennessee, and Speaker of the House of Representatives. 3. My family
My ancestors were settled around western New York and worked on farms, or as factory labors. My great-great-great grandparents came to America from Germany around early 1850s. My great-great grandfather, William Baase, was born in 1854, on the New York Harbor. His parents were from Germany. William Baase wife?s name is Minnie? Children: Augusta Baase Warren, Lenna Baase Adams, Minnie Baase Stillwell and Albert Baase. Albert Baase, (1887, South Wales, NY-1960), married three or two times. His first wife is unkown and I believe they had a daughter named Jessica. His 2nd wife was Dorothy Stewart, (m. 1919). Their children were Ralph Baase, Jean Baase Johnson, and Marion Baase Skiver. He married Marion O?conner in the 50s My grandfather, Robert William Baase,(1923-1988) married Lorriane Smallman in 1951.
